Become an Auditor
mba is now offering the IOSA Auditor Training (IAT) course.
This course is offered to train experienced auditors on the IOSA system and checklists. Individuals who may benefit include:
- Experienced airline auditors wishing to conduct IOSA audits for an Audit Organization
- Experienced regulatory auditors wishing to conduct IOSA audits for an Audit Organization
- Experienced airline auditors currently, working for airlines, wishing to understand the IOSA process.
Only auditors who can meet the prerequisites listed below will be accepted for this course. If you meet these prerequisites, please fill out and submit the IAT Trainee Registration Form and the IOSA Auditor Personal Data File. We have two options for submission of the IAT Trainee Registration Form. You may either download the form in Microsoft Word format and submit via email or fax, or you may complete the online registration form for faster processing.

Prerequisites for IOSA Auditor Acceptance
General
mba and IATA require that you submit evidence, including a curriculum vitae and a completed IOSA Auditor Personal Data File, which documents your professional background in terms of education, operational experience, auditor certification and/or training and audit experience.
mba must verify that you have met the appropriate qualification prerequisites in terms of education, operational experience, auditor certification and training and audit experience before you can be approved as an IOSA Auditor. Such prerequisites are indicators of auditor competence and ensure that you have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills to become an IOSA Auditor
Education
You must have completed at least secondary education. Secondary education is typically the stage of the national educational system that comes after the primary or elementary stages and is completed prior to entrance to a university or similar educational institution. In the United States, it is commonly known as high school.
Operational Experience
You must have a minimum of five years of civilian or military work experience in any of the aviation operational disciplines listed below, with at least two full years in a single discipline. Six months of the aviation experience must have occurred within the past 24 months.
The following constitute acceptable aviation operational disciplines that satisfy the general operational experience requirements for an IOSA Auditor:
- Military or civilian air carrier pilot licensed by a national regulatory authority
- Military or civilian aircraft maintenance engineer/technician licensed or approved by a national regulatory authority
- Air carrier flight operations or airworthiness inspector for a national regulatory authority
- Flight dispatcher or flight operations officer certified by a national regulatory authority
- Aviation industry instructor in the areas of flight operations, aircraft systems, flight dispatch, cabin safety, security, or dangerous goods
- Ramp operations supervisor or weight and balance specialist
- Cargo and dangerous goods specialist
- Flight attendant supervisor
- Aviation operational security specialist
- Aviation safety or quality management professional
Certification and Training
You must satisfy one of the following prerequisites:
- 1.) Possess and furnish proof of current certification by a recognized national or international auditor certification authority either as a quality auditor, quality management system auditor or lead auditor, or as an aerospace experience auditor. Auditor certification must be based on internationally recognized auditor certification standards.
- 2.) If you are not currently a certified auditor as described above, you must furnish documented and verifiable evidence of completion of a formal quality auditor or lead quality auditor training course. The training course must have been conducted in a classroom format with a curriculum that included at least:
- a.) Auditor professional conduct and responsibilities
- b.) Planning and preparation for an audit
- c.) Audit principles, procedures, and techniques that an may select and apply as appropriate to ensure audits are conducted in a consistent and systematic manner
- d.) Management system and reference documents that enable an auditor to comprehend the scope of an audit and apply audit standards
- e.) Methods and techniques used by an auditor for effectively gathering evidence and other data necessary in determining conformance with standards
- f.) Determination of corrective action and preparation of the audit report
Acceptable evidence of training must consist of a certificate of completion, confirming that you have successfully completed all aspects of the course including an examination or demonstration of proficiency. A certificate of attendance is not acceptable.
The IOSA Auditor Training (IAT) course offered by mba meets these requirements.
Audit Experience
You must provide mba documented and verifiable evidence of having conducted a minimum of four (4) aviation operational, quality management system, regulatory compliance or safety audits. Such audits must have been conducted in the aviation operational disciplines listed in the “Operational Experience” paragraph above. A minimum of one of the audits must have been conducted within the twelve (12) months prior to your application.
